More From Good Judys

  • ‘Good Judy’ is a term used in the queer community to describe a good friend, someone that makes you feel safe, supported, and loved.

The name is a reference to the icon, Judy Garland, who at the time was a major advocate for the LGBTQ community (when a lot of people weren’t).

It hearkens back to the days when the LBGTQ community had to use coded language (because homosexual activity was illegal at the time) to help identify and discuss sexual orientation with others without everyone knowing its meaning.

Asking someone if they were a “friend of Dorothy” was just one way to help queer people safely identify each other during a time of extreme persecution. In some cases, people use “Good Judy” as an alternative to “Friend of Dorothy.”

We wanted to create a space that was inclusive for all, especially since the health and wellness community doesn’t have the best track record for that. It’s a tribute to those who came before us that couldn’t live as openly and as freely as we can today, and who paved the way for future generations to thrive.

  • We make our juices with cold-pressed technology. This means that we don't use heat in our juicing process, which preserves all the nutrients and enzymes in your juice.

This is particularly important if you're looking for a boost of antioxidants or digestive enzymes, because heating them can actually damage them. Our juices are made fresh every day using only the highest quality ingredients, which means they're loaded with vitamins and minerals—and they taste great!

  • Totally! We prioritize local, minority owned farms when possible, like Superbloom Farm (a women-owned container farm in downtown GR) for things like mint and artisan kale! Unfortunately, some produce isn’t grown locally so we do our best to source the highest quality, from local suppliers.

  • As a minority-owned business it was important for us to support other small brands with minority owners. 95% of the products on our shelves come from LGBTQ+, POC, or Women-Owned brands and producers.

Every product is healthy-ish, meaning none of our snacks are overly processed, they don’t have insane amounts of added sugars, or questionable preservatives.

We also do our best to offer a wide variety of allergen friendly, dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free, and peanut-free snacks too.

Side note: We’re also packaging and design nuts so you know these brands are not only tasty but cute too.
